Hiking boots, a walking stick and water bottle may have been “active transportation” a few years ago, but things have changed. Today, active transportation includes walking, cycling or paddling to work, school and play, developing (or redeveloping) communities to encourage pedestrian travel, designing facilities for fitness and adding green spaces to bolster personal and financial health.
Active transportation requires partnerships in many areas of municipal/state government, non-profit transportation advocacy groups, trail users, transportation engineers and planners and private businesses. The Texas Trails & Active Transportation (TTAT) Conference offers you a comprehensive look at what active transportation is and will be in Texas, and your role in making it happen.
