WHAT
Plenary Sessions | Break Out Sessions | Workshops | Hospitality Events
Leading national, state and local experts will help make this the largest and most exciting Texas state trail conference of all time. The 16th Texas Trails & Active Transportation Conference is dramatically expanding this year, from motorized and non-motorized trails focus, to include even more bicycling, walking and Safe Routes to School sessions than ever before.
The conference will expose participants to cutting edge existing and future “active transportation” facilities around the world. Equipment vendors will get an opportunity to show their stuff at the conference exhibits. Many sessions and workshops will be fantastic opportunities for networking and exchanging ideas - including our awards banquet on a river boat and sponsors' receptions.
The 2010 conference program has been a collaboration between the professionals of the Texas Trails Network, BikeTexas, Texas Active Living Network, Austin Parks Foundation, Hill Country Conservancy, Austin Ridge Riders, American Youthworks, Austin Cycling Association and scores of dedicated volunteers. Come join us and see how you can create a brighter future for your area's hikers, bicyclists, canoeists, kayakers, and equestrians.
". . . the [2009] conference was one of the best I have been to. The sessions were so informative for what our City is trying to accomplish. Thank you so much for a great conference. I hope to see you next year." - Heidi Shannon, League City
TRAILS & ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION!
Hiking boots, a walking stick and water bottle may have been “active transportation” a few years ago, but things have changed. Today, active transportation includes walking, cycling or paddling to work, school and play, developing (or redeveloping) communities to encourage pedestrian travel, designing facilities for fitness and adding green spaces to bolster personal and financial health. Active transportation requires partnerships in many areas of municipal/state government, non-profit transportation advocacy groups, trail users, transportation engineers and planners and private businesses. This year’s conference offers you a comprehensive look at what active transportation is and will be in Texas, and your role in making it happen.
